James Thomas Sgroi '65 Scholarship

This scholarship was established by James Thomas Sgroi ’65 to assist a student who is majoring in education with the goal of becoming a teacher. SUNY Oswego was instrumental in shaping his goal to become a secondary mathematics teacher. This scholarship gives back to the college for its commitment to students. To qualify for this award, a student must:
a. Be a full-time matriculated student enrolled in a teacher-certification major within the School of Education
b. Apply in freshman, sophomore or junior year (having completed 12-86 credits, including transfer) to receive award the following year
c. Maintain a 2.75 SUNY Oswego GPA
d. Provide a written statement regarding financial need
e. Provide a 150 word essay on one of the following topics: (1.) Someone who has influenced your desire to become a teacher and what that meant to you; or, (2.) What life challenges or struggles have you faced and how have they influenced your goal to become a teacher?
