Francis J. McKeown Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Paul BS’89 and Ashley Watson in loving memory of Paul’s parents, Walton Matthew and Stephancia Cybater Watson, who did the best they could with what they knew; and in honor of Francis J. McKeown BS’67, MS’81, Paul’s high school chemistry teacher. This scholarship is for a matriculated student within the Chemistry Department who has demonstrated a financial need and may also be overcoming significant obstacles in life. It is the hope that the scholarship will be an unexpected gift, allowing recipients to fulfill their own passion for science. To qualify for this award, a student must:
a. Be a matriculated student with a major or minor in the Chemistry Department in good academic standing.
b. Apply in freshman, sophomore or junior year (having completed 12-86 credits, including transfer)
c. Have documented financial need.
d. Submit an additional essay highlighting the obstacles they have overcome.
e. This scholarship is renewable if the recipient continues to meet all other criteria.
