Hugh and Grace Mowatt Burritt Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Hugh (d. 2018) and Grace Mowatt Burritt to assist deserving students in the Music and Health and Wellness Departments who are in need of financial assistance to complete their degree. Both Hugh and Grace are emeriti faculty members; Hugh, of the Music Department, and Grace, of the Health and Physical Education Department. Hugh was a respected trumpet player and was the founder of the Jazz Studies program, College Jazz Band and a brass teacher. Grace was the women’s swim team coach and Catalina Club Advisor. This scholarship will rotate annually each year between the two departments. To qualify for this award, a student must:
a. Be a Health Promotion and Wellness major
b. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate involvement in the campus through activities such as student clubs
and organizations, intramurals, club or intercollegiate athletics
c. Apply in Sophomore or Junior year (completed 27-86 credits, including transfer credits, by deadline)
d. Have a 2.5 or better SUNY Oswego GPA
e. Have financial need
