Dr. Raymond B. Bridgers, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by A. Cynthia Weber to honor her father, Dr. Raymond B. Bridgers, Jr. (d. 2013), who was a Professor in the Campus School and the School of Education at SUNY Oswego (1958-1992). During his time at Oswego, he not only taught theory and methods of education, but also created courses, such as ‘The Importance of Play’, ‘Teaching Culturally Different Children’, and ‘Creativity’. Prior to coming to Oswego, he had gone back to school to get his PhD with four children, and needed scholarships to be able to complete his education. To qualify for this award, a student must:
a.) Be a non-traditional student in the School of Education, with a teaching-certification major. The student may be earning an undergraduate or graduate degree and can be either full-time or part-time
b.) Have demonstrated financial need..
NOTE: The scholarship is renewable as long as the student continues with a teaching-certification major within the School of Education.
