Allen Family Scholarship

The Allen Family Scholarship was established by Holly (Allen) Garcia ’92 and Craig Allen ’86 to honor and memorialize their parents, Shirley (Cook) and John Allen, both teachers in New York State. Shirley was an elementary school teacher. John dedicated his career to teaching high school French and English. Holly is currently a teacher, and Craig works in higher education administration. The Allen family believes in the power of education. They want to support future teachers and the important work they will do, making a positive impact on the lives of students and educating the next generation of leaders. To qualify for this scholarship, a student must
a.) be a full-time matriculated student in the School of Education, pursuing a career in teaching (elementary or secondary)
b.) have demonstrated financial need
c.) maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA and 3.0 GPA in the major
d.) apply in sophomore year to receive the award the following academic year.
NOTE: The scholarship is automatically renewable for a second year, if a student continues to meet the award criteria.
