Dr. Philip J. Briggs '60 Scholarship

“This scholarship was established by Dr. Philip J. Briggs ’60 to alleviate the financial burden for a student studying political science or history. A celebrated political scientist, writer, and educator, Dr. Briggs amassed more than 30 years of professional experience prior to his retirement from East Stroudsburg University at the beginning of 2000.
To qualify for this award, a student must:
a. Be a declared political science or history major. Preference will be given to
political science majors.
b. Have a cumulative SUNY Oswego GPA of 3.25 or higher.
c. Apply in their freshman, sophomore, or junior year, for an award to be
received in the subsequent academic year.
