Frank and Ruth Sayer Education Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Ruth and Frank Sayer to recognize a student in the School of Education who is committed to pursuing a career in teaching and shows signs of good citizenship and being a positive role model for children. Members of the Oswego community, the Sayers made service to the community, to SUNY Oswego and to other philanthropic causes a hallmark of their lives. The intent of this scholarship is to support the need for motivated teachers who will someday also choose to give back to someone else. This scholarship will be awarded to a student who best meets the following criteria:
a. Be a full-time student enrolled in the School of Education
b. Be a freshman, sophomore or junior (having earned 0-86 credits, including transfer credits, by the end of this year’s winter session.)
c. Demonstrate promise and commitment to the field of education
d. Demonstrate signs of good citizenship and be a positive role model for children.
e. Submit a 300-word essay that demonstrates:
1. Your promise and commitment to the field of education;
2. Your good citizenship and how you serve as a positive role model
f. Preference given to students with financial need.
