Eloise Kelly Dolan Scholarship
This award was established by Anne A. Dolan, Class of 1977, for a student enrolled in the SUNY Oswego School of Education to honor her mother Eloise Kelly Dolan (a 1944 graduate of Cornell University who taught primary school in Geneva, NY), her maternal grandmother Agnes Beatrice Murphy (a 1908 graduate of Geneseo who taught music in Dansville, NY) and paternal grandmother Ellen Desmond Dolan, who taught grades 1-8 in a one-room schoolhouse in rural New Brunswick, Canada. This award is meant to encourage the recipient to pursue a teaching career in the tradition established by Anne’s forbearers to whom this award is hereby dedicated.
To qualify for this award, a student must:
a. Be a full-time matriculated student enrolled in a teacher-certification major within in the School of Education.
b. Be a US citizen and New York State resident
c. Graduate of a high school in Ontario or Livingston County
d Maintain a 3.0 GPA
e. Apply in first-year, sophomore or junior year to receive the award the corresponding fall.
f. Submit a short essay, no more than 1-page, on what you think students should derive from education
