Roosevelt Muhammad Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Thaina Gonzalez ’92, a passionate member of our Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) and the ALANA Community during her undergraduate experience at SUNY Oswego. This award memorializes Roosevelt Muhammad, a former SUNY Oswego Assistant Dean of Students & Director of the former L.E.A.D Center (The Point), who oversaw the ALANA (African Latino Asian Native American) Multicultural Leadership Conference from 1990 to 2006 and who died August 23, 2021. Moreover, it honors the indelible impact Mr. Muhammad had on Thaina and numerous alumni, through his constant mentorship, service in the promotion of diversity, leadership, and heart and soul support of all students. All of which Thaina hopes will help light the “path to wisdom” for future generations.
