John A. Nosal Scholarship In Chemistry
This scholarship was established by John A. Nosal, class of 1982, to provide financial support for those students who have decided that a degree in chemistry from SUNY Oswego will ensure a solid scientific foundation for them to help the communities in which they work and live. It is being created in appreciation for the education that SUNY Oswego provided the donor, which led to rewarding career opportunities in chemistry and other science-related fields.
Scholarship Criteria:
This scholarship is to be awarded to one junior and one senior annually, with students applying in their sophomore and junior years, respectively, so they receive the award in the academic year that aligns with this scholarship. To qualify for this award, a student must:
Be a chemistry major who has officially declared that major with the university.
Have and maintain a 3.6 minimum GPA for all coursework.
Should be involved in either a student organization/club, or be working on research with a professor within the chemistry department.
Financial need can be considered to help decide the deserving candidates
This scholarship is not renewable, meaning that students must apply each year so all candidates can be reviewed to determine the best recipients.
